fscking stupid jdk 1.4

Work

Why the hell did Sun include an XML parser and XSLT processor implementations as standard in the 1.4 JDK (and JRE)? I've spent all of today tracking down a bug in some XSLT with another one of guys here at Recall[0] because of it. The problem all boiled down to the fact that the app was picking up 1.4's copy of Xalan, which must be at least 10 months old, instead of the newer, much less buggy copy we were providing it with.

NYAAAARRRRGGG!

Yeah yeah, I know why they included them, it's just damm annoying.

[0] - I'd link to Recall's website, but it is this embarrasing mess of Flash and tag-soup HTML and really, I wouldn't want you to see it.
