Heh, there's a pretty enteratining flame-fest on the W3C's www-style list at the moment.
The two main protagonists seem to be one Shelby Moore, of origins unknown, and Ian Hickson; CSS WG Invited Expert, Apple employee, ex-Netscape empolyee, and major Mozilla contributor. No guesses as to who I agree with, I guess.
My favourite quote so far from Shelby:
>Ian Hickson wrote: >>Shelby Moore wrote: >>>If I markup all the dates in my document using a custom tag >>>, it doesn't cause any harm. >> >>This is a huge misconception of the XML groupies. XML "groupies" are also member of W3C and I wonder how they would react to your characterization of them as "groupies". Does that advance your argument somehow?? >> It _does_ cause harm. Go tell it on the XML mountain. This list is not the proper forum. In the XML forum, the experts can properly debate you.
Heh, I wonder if he voted for George W. Bush as well?
I think, for the record, that embedding arbitrary tags in XHTML is considered harmful. I think Shelby needs to pull his head in; he's starting to sound too much like me when I'm backed into a corner.
