post-java

Geek

Lately, I have been wondering what will pique my interest, post-Java. Perl is too baroque, Python is not pure enough, Ruby is not supported enough. C and C++ are too cumbersome. C# and other CLI-frontends are effectively Java by another name. Maybe Erlang?

I once thought that Framework Object Oriented Programming was the next big thing (and I wish I still had the link that set me off on it), but after reading some of Paul Graham's writings, I'm not so sure. In particular, read the Hundred Year Language, and the links from that page.

More musings as time permits.

"Python is not pure enough". Them's fightin' words ... if only I knew what you meant. Care to elaborate?

Daryl: Have a read of "python and poor object oriented programming" which I just posted. It describes what I found after playing with OOP in Python after a while.

Dave: Yeah, Sure. What about it? :)

At least Ada has generics! Geee... what a concept! Lets take 8 years to implement it.
