Although I didn't take the photo, why is it mean or something to not be proud of?
The photographer didn't kill it. It was already dead. If you think that death is intrinsically nasty you would be wrong - it's just an enivitable part of life. If someone had killed it for no reason at all, that would be nasty or something to not be proud of, but we don't know that from just looking at the photo, nor is that the photographer's fault.
I hope you don't watch any TV or movies where people or animals get hurt or killed. That would be nasty and not something to be proud of.
