The Display is the Computer? But I thought The Network is the Computer? Does that mean you guys are The Dot in Dot Com now?

Ahh, so putting it all together, you get _The Display is the Network_.

I think this means they are the Pixel in Dot Com.

Ba-da-dum!

Thank you, thank you. Please, you're too kind. I'm here all week. Try the deep-fried tofu; it's divine!

just cause u'r vice president of the fashion club it doesn't make u god QUINN..

Posted by: sandi on September 1, 2004 03:59 PM

Hey! Stop mocking me. You know being the vice president of the fashion club is my dream, but because of a tragic accident involving jade green, Andy Warhol and a blender it can never be!

Oh won't people ever let it alone!

How is this more innovative than putting the computer in the keyboard (e.g. C64 or Amiga)?

(Heeellllooooo from London, by the way!)

For me, the footprint, or lack thereof. I still can't get over how big ATX PC cases are. It's really quite ridiculous. Computers are supposed to be getting smaller, not larger. Note that the G5 is just as bad.

Apple had the right idea with the Cube, but priced it into oblivion. They're back on track with the new iBook. I don't want a supercomputer that's too heavy to put on my desk, I want one that fits in my pocket.

Anyway, I think it is more like a desktop-mounted notebook or tablet computer than a C64. I hope this is where the market will be going in the medium term. Most desktop PCs sold don't need more than a single hard drive and will never get upgraded perhaps beyond some more memory or more disk, so they may have well been a notebook instead. Considering you can get an iBook for AUD$1700, who wouldn't want one? Most geeks seem to be opting notebooks these days, so hopefully an increased demand will see even cheaper portables.
