ubuntu linux
Geek
I figure everyone else is pimping it, so I may as well do so too.
Ubuntu Linux is the newest, coolest Linux distro on the block. Based on Debian, with all the sheer geeky love that entails, but with the gloss only a corporate-backed distro can pull together.
I've downloaded the live cd (using the very useful Gnome Bittorrent frontend, incidently) to test out and for easier pimping on third parties but I'll probably install it on a test box to really put it through it's paces, or more likely, to sit and gather dust.
Still, the idea behind Ubuntu rocks. They are aiming for a regular 6-month release cycle (think: up-to-date, yet stable, Debian), making Linux easy to install and having it just work. Much like Gnome, in fact. This isn't suprising since a bunch of Gnome celebrities are paid to work on it.
So, I'm encouraging eveyone I know to switch to it and I may even do so myself, sometime soon. Go on, all the cool kids are.
