be assured, be very assured

Geek

Today I became a CACert assurer. Cheers to Ryan for doing the assuring.

I originally just wanted to get the 50 points needed to sign my own 2-year server certificates, instead of the 6-month certs you get if you are not assured enough (or at all). I am switching over to CACert because maintaining my own CA was proving to much of a hassle and if CACert ever gets its root certificate approved by Mozilla, then a lot of people will be able to use my TLS-protected services without needing to install my vee.net CA certificate. This is a good thing.

However, recently CACert has provided some assurers with a temporary, uber points boost. This allowed Ryan to assure me for 150 points (instead of just 35) and hence I can now assure people as well.

So if you would like to be able to send private email messages, or join the CACert web of trust (useful for protecting your online identity), or if you just want to run a secure web server. Contact Ryan. :) While his uber points last, anyway. After that, contact me as well.

Remember, CACert Assurers: We can assure you.
