where did all the referrer spam go?

Geek

So I have become accustomed to my monthly referrer logs (the list web pages that have links to my web site) being useless due to spammers that deliberately abuse the referrer with links to their own websites.

But something suprising has happened - they seem to have dropped off the face of the planet. I was looking at Volition's web site statistics just then for the first time in ages, and I noticed both this month and November are almost completely free of referrer spam. Suddently, my referrer list is useful again!

So can someone clue me in as to what happened? Has my Internet service provider taken it upon themselves to block referrer spam? Has someone broken in to my server and upgraded my webstats software to some mystical version that ignores the spam? Did the spammers just stop? Who knows?
